Indian Cities Heritage Network Foundation (IHCNF), Bangalore


The Indian Heritage Cities Network was initially launched as a UNESCO programme in response to the fast changing urban context of Indian historic cities that threaten to destroy some of India’s diverse heritage in cities and advance the promotion of heritage based sustainable development in India.
IHCNF got registered as a Trust on 27th March 2009 establishing it as an independent Indian organization. Its secretariat was initially set up in Mysore, Karnataka with the support of Government of Karnataka.
IHCN was envisioned to be a membership driven organization and has since its inception created a network of historically The Indian Heritage Cities Network was initially launched as a UNESCO programme in response to the fast changing urban context of Indian historic cities that threaten to destroy some of India’s diverse heritage in cities and advance the promotion of heritage based sustainable development in India. significant cities, universities and institutional members as well as a number of NGO partners. Heritage Cities Development Network Society (HCDNS), a sister organization of IHCNF was registered in the year 2015.
IHCNF is presently active in Karnataka and Rajasthan and has initiated dialogue with the State Government of Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Kerala for heritage based activities in these states
