The haveli was originally the home of Hakim Ahsanullah Khan, the royal physician to Late Mughal emperors like Bahadur Shah Zafar. It originally occupied a sprawling compound, of which only a large colonial period structure remains. It was constructed first between 1719 - 1748. The current structure occupies three storeys and has multiple entrances, including a dedicated alley with a semicircular archway. There are also several dalans, two of them visible from the main street. One is faced in red sandstone and is sealed, the other is a large and simple structure with a foliated arch and simple panels on the otlas and architrave band. The arch has a moulded edge and a floral apex. Its recessed scallop has a pointed arch doorway with a timber door. The facade has several windows with flat lintels. Many of these are arranged as twin windows in pointed arch profiles, placed in a larger semicircular arched stucco profile. The haveli retains its large courtyard and a dalan with arches overlooking the central space
